Like the hummingbird (Kolibri) - the only bird able to hover in place and fly backwards - I see paper collage as agile, delicate, nostalgic yet quietly powerful.

KoLibri is my most recent art project rooted in the practice of analog collage. I flew from the south of Italy (Puglia), where I was born, collecting paper and memories from every place I’ve lived: Milan, Lisbon, Helsinki, and now Berlin. I blend these fragments into artworks that reflect evolving identities and celebrate the art of reinvention.

I was initially drawn to collage as a mindful practice during my nomadic years as an expat professional. Analog collage is, to me, a democratic form of art: accessible, adaptable to a life in motion, and emerging from a process of both meticulous selection and serendipity.

I have collected and carefully kept paper cuttings for the last five years until they found a new meaning in a composition. They usually come from magazines found in flea markets or rescued from the Berlin streets marked “zu verschenken” (“to give away”).

My artwork is marked by a dialogue between the built environment and the natural world. Through symbolic imagery and elements of magical realism, I explore the inner world of the traveller and migrant navigating change.
